4 South College Avenue
Fayetteville AR 72701
The Fayetteville Station for the Butterfield Stage was a relay station
with facilities for crew and stock changes. Butterfield owned some five
acres east of the marker site on the 1905 Courthouse at College Avenue
and Center Street. This acreage contained a spring and pasture for stock.
John Butterfield's son Charles and his wife Mary managed this station
and operated a hotel built by Butterfield on the site.
